The Big Day! Classroom Reveal!

Hey Y'all! I KNOW I have been MIA, but we are now in our second week of school and things are beginning to calm down and fall into a routine, so I am happy to be back in the blogging world!

I have been stalking watching Ashley at Schroeder Shenanigans in 2nd on Periscope for most of the summer and was super pumped when she rolled out the #2GETHERWEAREBETTER series. I knew instantly that I wanted to be a part of it!

So here we go!

Drum roll please..... Classroom Reveal Day!

I spent a ton of time planning the layout of my classroom this year. In years past, I wanted my own "teacher" area, which took up a big corner chunk of the room. Well this summer I read Learn Like a Pirate by Paul Solarz and changed SO MANY things about my teaching style and classroom!
So long story short, my teacher desk is up against the wall and I have removed the chair, I mean there is really no time to sit anyways! I am happy to say that 98% of the classroom is STUDENT CENTERED! SO important!

This area is the first thing you see when you walk in my room. I LOVE it so much! It's calm and that carpet is massive! I got my hands on that carpet at the beginning of last year through a Donors Choose grant. You can find the carpet here
The second favorite part of my classroom stares me in the face when I walk in, my book shelf and rocking chair (both found at garage sales, what what!).

My classroom theme is Under the Sea with Navy, Corals, and Golds. I love it SO MUCH!
I purchased the math center folders on the right from the AMAZING Hope King at Elementary Shenanigans TPT store. They are attached to two metal filing cabinets that I turned sideways, hot glued Bulletin Board Paper to, and added a magnetic boarder.

The classroom library is organized by Guided Reading levels, and I scored those amazing bins at Big Lots for $3.00 a piece! Then I spray painted them over the summer to match my theme (remember those days when you had all the time in the world).

I created my own Literacy header for my literacy bulletin board using KG Fonts of course! I adore how much they POP!

Above the Smart Board is my brand new set of alphabet cards! They are perfect! You can grab them here

Pardon my flag, hadn't had a chance to unfold it yet! Yikes! One of the most genius ideas that came when setting up my classroom this year was trading students individual desks for the "work" tables that held the computers and other items in the room. BUT then we had to find places to put the desks because we are not allowed to remove them from the classroom!! WELL I have a bunch of desks up above the cabinets and you can't even tell!
The posters are hanging on the desks and are some Essential Standards that my team and I came up with. I took them to Office Depot and had them printed poster size. Now they are in the PERFECT spot!

A well-deserved close up of the fabulousness!

I had to take this picture because of the four photos on the wall! Each year of teaching, I create a thumbprint photo of my sweet kiddos and they are a FAB addition to my wall. I can't wait to see my entire wall covered someday!
Also, how great are those math helpers on top?!
You can get them here from the fabulous Amy Lemons at Step into 2nd Grade.

These cork boards help me keep track of how my kiddos "swim" home each day!

I can't finish this post without adding how WONDERFUL my parents are this year! OMG Y'ALL they have already exceeded all expectations and it's only the second week of school! Check out these adorable little gifts!

Seriously though, thanks so much for stopping by, I know this was LENGTHY! Let me know if you have any questions about my room!
Make sure to hop on over to the other #2GETHERWEAREBETTER blogs!
